We recently worked on a website for Design Equity, a business development consultancy based in Bristol. They engaged local marketing firm Modern Media to develop a range of new promotional materials for an upcoming exhibition.

Modern Media engaged Evergreen to create a website with an easy to use content management system, contact forms, news & events section, and social media links. We built the site well within the deadline set.

Nicola Ray, Director of Modern Media, had the following to say:

“I would like to say a big thank you for working with us on the Design Equity website and getting it live in such a tight time frame. It’s really been a pleasure working with Evergreen – they are brilliant. Very helpful with a real ‘can-do’ attitude.”

There’s an interesting article on the Guardian website today:

From 26 May this year, every website operating in the UK will be required to inform its users that they are being tracked with cookies, and to ask users for their consent.

Outsourced Events logo

We have been supporting Outsourced Events with their IT operations over the past eighteen months - since their resident technician decided upon a change in career.

Based in Chiswick, West London, Outsourced Events organise seminars, exhibitions and conferences for many large blue chip organisations both nationally and internationally.

Their online delegate registration system is large, complex and ultimately flexible and allows Outsourced Events to create individual registration websites for their clients and delegates.

Outsourced Events approached us in the Autumn of 2010 to manage their software environment (including their hosting environment) and we have been working in close partnership ever since.

We have proved to be flexible in meeting their, sometimes demanding, schedules and deadlines, and have shown that we are not ‘just another website company‘, and have demonstrated that companies can actually outsource their existing IT platform for us to manage successfully.

We have now completed our third online system with rehabilitation specialists, Provision Solutions.

Director James Aylett said ‘We needed to move from a paper-based course to an online format in order for our students to better access course materials, use interactive learning media, and be able to communicate with other fellow students on their course.’

Using our extensive knowledge of databases and web development, we have worked with Provision Solutions to build:

  1. an online learning facility,
  2. an online questionnaire system with instant results analysis,
  3. and an evaluation tool for GPs.

‘One of the benefits of working with Evergreen is that they really get to grips with what you need to achieve and how best to achieve it. They respond very quickly to requests and are excellent in their communication about the work they do for us. They are clear about the timescales for the work and have always met them.’

I’m sure you’ve seen how Google change their logo for special occasions – in fact most days they have something going on.

This is easy for Google to keep up as they have a dedicated team of people researching and designing new logos!

With a bit of cleverness you can achieve some special with themed backgrounds, logos and other graphic widgets that change based on calendar dates.

Your site always looks fresh, up-to-date and relevant to your customers.

The Cooks Kitchen have Christmas hats, snowflakes and snow drifts at Christmas, then hearts and cupcakes for Valentines Day. They’ve even got a different logo for pancake day!

Why not add a little bit of seasonal variation to your site?

You may not have noticed that February 7th was “Safer Internet Day”.

A few of us at Evergreen are parents, and we know how important it is for our children to access the Internet for school work, social networking and gaming.

But it’s not always easy to talk to them about internet safety!

HTML 5The kind folks at LongTail Video (producers of the flash-video-in-your-website widget: JW Player), have written an informative article about HTML5 Video and how well it’s supported on various web browsers.

LongTail says that two thirds of Internet users are running browsers that support HTML5.

Arstechnica published an excellent article on the weekend entitled “What Google knows about you and how to tweak it”. Google+

There’s 2 essential links in the article:

1. have a look at your own Dashboard on Google. This shows all the info that Google has about your account, with links on how to amend the information.

2. have a look at your Ad tracking preferences. What demographics and categories are you in?

Google product manager Jonathan McPhie says: ”Everyone who has a Google account should visit their Dashboard once a year. It’s like Google’s way of showing you our hand—let you see what info we have on you—and allow you to change it.
